Iceland Data transforms raw tourism statistics from Statistics Iceland (Hagstofa Íslands) and the Central Bank of Iceland (Seðlabanki Íslands) into interactive dashboards and monthly reports.

Data is pulled directly from the publishers' open interfaces: Statistics Iceland's PX-Web database for passenger counts, hotel guest nights, capacity, occupancy, the consumer price index and population, and the Central Bank of Iceland's published spreadsheet for foreign card turnover. Nothing is estimated or modelled. When a source revises a past month, the revision is picked up on the next refresh.
Refreshes happen each month once all sources have published, usually in the second half of the month, and the date of the latest data point is shown on every dashboard. Year-over-year comparisons always use the same months of the previous year, so a year still in progress is compared like for like. Trailing twelve-month figures sum the latest twelve months regardless of calendar year. Real spending is calculated by deflating each month's card turnover with the consumer price index for that month. Hotel figures cover registered hotels only; guesthouses, hostels and short-term rentals are excluded.
